No protein supplements (vitamins and creatine, yes), but I do count the daily protein intake (target 1 gram/kg), so can confirm your hypothesis of cultural protein obsession. Vienna provides great local meats, eggs, and dairy, so can hit the target with the day-to-day. But it’s all the talk on the rides and runs. 😇
I've only ever eaten a couple of protein bars, I thought they were gross. Beef is better :-)
I lived off those Tiger Milk bars back in the day.
Are you eating any protein supplements now, Scott?

…i just wish they all didn’t taste like a dog’s foot…
Dog's Foot is probably the ingredient that lets David protein bars pack 30g of protein into 150 calories.
...good to know we are finally making use of full animal and going farm to table...ahem...farm to runner's hip sack...
I remember eating a PowerBar an hour or two before I had to run "the mile" in gym class, thinking somehow it'd help.
Same! At least your jaw also got a workout from having to chew that rubber-like Powerbar.
The USDA tried.
