Loved these reflections, Sam. Made me think of a Murakami line: ”Maybe working on the little things as dutifully and honestly as we can is how we stay sane when the world is falling apart.”
I recall seeing your group at Lake Temescal when the group first got started. I felt too intimidated and slow to join, but I wish I had suppressed those feelings and tried to hang for at least part of the run. You really created something special, in a setting that I miss. Next week, I'm seeing a documentary that touches on the themes here, "Join or Die," https://www.joinordiefilm.com/. I've heard great things about the film.
Next time you're in the area! Now we've got a post-run coffee group too! I tried to get a showing of Join or Die out here, but ran out of bandwidth. I'd love to know what you think!
