It's been quite a week! I'm looking forward to the recap of your chat with Mario (it will be the wee hours here in Austria).
Our pro adidas runners say fueling (both for race and recovery) and super shoes have been the biggest gains lately. Most of them are pretty old school, no watches or lactic monitors.
I'm curious to hear you & Mario talk about what's behind the falling records and next-level speed. I don't follow these distances on track, so I wasn't aware of these new records. But it parallels the way the top ultrarunners have been getting faster and shattering records every year. Surely it has to do with the mind believing that getting under the next record is possible, combined with competitors pushing each other. But inevitably we wonder about doping. Is there some fundamental shift in training among coaches for young up-and-comers? Is it new-generation shoes? Are these guys skinny to the point of anorexic and poised to flame out with injury and eating disorder? I hope these new records are the result of positive not negative developments!
Thanks for the mention, Sam!
No, thank you, Alex!

Really good questions!
