It amazes me that my injury spot (at the head of the tibia, where the IT Band attaches), finally is totally healed; it never even bothers me. For over a year, I noticed it with every foot fall, and now it's fine. I credit the PRP shot for helping it heal fully. These things do get better, and then something else flares up and demands attention.
Funny! I reinjured my meniscus back in February too, due to an old ACL injury that finally got to the point of needing fixed. Surgery’s in two weeks. Been pre-habbing and also leaning heavier on my usual cross training — I found after my first surgery a few years ago that powerlifting is great for keeping my metabolism up during the winter months, since it requires huge spikes of energy.
What lifting do you do? I mainly only train on my bench, up to 2 reps at my max of 230, though I could probably hit 235-240 on a good day if I was trying for a 1RM.
Good luck with the surgery, David! I’m not sure I’ll be able to avoid it.
My lifting is nothing as impressive as that… literally just incorporating some barbells into some circuits, focusing on chest, arms, back, etc. anything that won’t stress the knee. Feels nice to do something new and hard.
I really feel for you. A couple of days ago, the poet I follow daily had this good poem on pain from her fractured foot: https://ahundredfallingveils.com/2025/05/24/six-weeks-after-i-break-my-foot/

PRP might be in my future. We’ll see though! Thanks, Sarah!
I completely forgot about the John Butler Trio. I used to love that song.... so I played it. and I still love it. Hope you heal fast!
Hey thanks, Marty. Glad to bring back Butler for you!
I too am on the bike at the moment. Nothing quite as serious as yours but UGH
Ugh! Bodies, man!
I am a big fan of classic rock - Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and many others. Sorry to hear about your knee.......hope you can back out on the roads soon.
Thanks so much, Jenn. 🤞
