Hey there, thanks for coming back for another newsletter.
My ability to get out letters has been hampered of late by work commitments. I was recently promoted, turning my calendar into a veritable wall of 30- to 60-minute meeting blocks, around which I'm supposed to do my actual job.
In times of intense transition, I tend to turn inward to prioritize work, responsibilities, and new obligations. But that often comes at the expense of attending to the people who care for and about me, including my wife, friends, and family.
That's been exacerbated by the pandemic, which injected new forms of risk into many human encounters. And while that risk still lingers at lower levels for the vaccinated, it’s no longer an excuse to neglect basic commitments to one’s community—commitments that I believe are the prerequisites for a decent society and meaningful life.
