Vacation running is no vacation
My wife and I traveled East to visit with family in northern Vermont this past week. Autumn is always New England’s finest hour—there’s a chill in the air, the leaves change color in real time, and rain storms keep the forests feeling lush and alive for a few more weeks before winter.
It was a lovely trip of hikes and corn mazes; retreats from the rain to cozy ciders and puzzles; catching up over the pleasant clinks of glasses of beer.
But, man. It is hard to train while on vacation.
I'm building up for the Cal International Marathon this December and while my goals are modest, I still want to get to the start line fitter than I was in August. So running continued through the break.
