As we hunker down for a long winter, my wife and I decided learning a bit about chess would be a nice way to spend time together. I'm pretty terrible, but I look forward to the challenge of improving. Want to join me? I'm on chess.com as Sam-Rob.
But as far as running goes, I've struggled to set engaging goals this year without races. I took the last week off from running to reset my body, but I'm still contemplating what sort of training goals I should set for this very unusual winter.

Oakland's own Magda Boulet was named to the Western States Endurance Run's Board of Directors. Boulet, who won Western States in 2015, joins Kara Telinsky and filmmaker Billy Yang as new members to the board. (WSER)
