Welcome back to Breakfast Club.
It's the endgame of the 2020 election cycle with Americans heading to the polls amid the triple jeopardy of viral pandemic, crippling recession, and environmental catastrophe.
As I write, another red-flag event of high winds and dry air is prompting power outages and evacuations across the Bay Area in an effort to avoid further wildfire catastrophe.
While most eyes are rightly focusing on the races at the top of the ballot, state and local elections have a sizable impact on everyday life.
Here in California, the ballot is long and complicated—mine took about 3 hours to fill out, and I felt like I was rushing. If you haven't voted yet, I highly recommend the CalMatters Election Guide, which breaks down all 12 statewide propositions.
