Tommy Rivers Puzey and family.
Good morning!
I hope you are well and safe.
I was shattered to see that Tommy Rivers Puzey was admitted to the ICU several weeks ago with pneumonia/Covid related symptoms. So far the doctors have been unable to provide a specific diagnosis, but Rivers, a 2:18 marathoner and accomplished ultra runner, has sustained significant damage to his lungs.
Tommy’s friends have started a GoFundMe to help with the accumulating hospital costs.
His post from the ICU exhorts folks to wear a mask and practice vigilance in the face of the pandemic. And it’s a good reminder that no amount of fitness spares us from the risks of this disease. Think the fact that you can run a sub-17-minute 5K will spare you from the worst? Fuck around and find out.
Onto the newsletter.
