Good afternoon!

What a week of running for northern California!  From epic ultramarathoning at Western States, to the Mile Bang Race in Los Gatos, running excellence ran the gamut of distances this weekend. 

I joined a troop of happy warriors in Redwood Park on Sunday for the Woodmonster Trail Race, the East Bay's venerable 8.4-mile handicapped trail race.  Expertly managed by race director extraordinaire Christine Chapon, the race features wave starts based on age and gender.  The oldest runners begin first and the young studs start last; first to the line wins.  This year Bradford Bryon easily took the overall win by 3 minutes.  At 60 years young, he outlasted runners half his age to take the victory.
