Good afternoon!
"Find your people and work to make them stronger." This thought sat in my head last Sunday as I chewed through a burrito at a local taqueria, jaws grinding slowly with fatigue. After twenty miles of running, I slumped over my plate and slowly regained energy as the eight other runners around the table joked and bantered in the afterglow of a long run.
We had just finished a lengthy effort through the rolling hills of the East Bay park system at a quick pace with a couple thousand feet of climbing. The morning reminded me of the best aspects of competing in college: an effort somehow both collaborative and competitive, where individual ambitions were not forgotten, but no one took themselves too seriously. It was great.
