Good afternoon!
Congratulations to all who weathered the brutal conditions between Hopkinton and Boylston Street in the Boston Marathon. What an incredible and difficult day. The rain and headwinds leveled the playing field to such an extent that the underrated, the unheralded, and the unafraid ruled the day.
Big kudos to Oakland-based John Williams (77th) and Doug Howard (91st) for finishing in the top 100. Enormous props to Breakfast Club's Peter Battaglino for powering through the headwinds to finish a few minutes off his PB. My utmost respect to anyone who toed the line yesterday in extreme conditions.
There will be many great stories and images that come out of the race—including the first American woman to win in 33 years and "The People's Champion," Yuki Kawauchi, on the top podium.
